Just before Christmas, our architect—Denise Shaw with Plumb Architecture—visited to check on the garage apartment. Before she arrived, my dad and I went out to set up an extension ladder to reach the landing. As we were struggling to get the very top-heavy ladder upright, one of the framers showed up and helped us out. Then as the rest of the crew arrived, my son and mom decided to join us in the apartment. Contrary to how it may have looked, the kindergartner does not spend much time on the construction site.
Since then, the piers and beginnings of the stair framing have gone up. Soon it will be easier to check on the progress!
